Established on April 24, 1928 with the aim of helping to reduce the financial burden of police personnel and staff in the Police Department. Without neglecting the members, KPD has developed from a cooperative that provides lending to a conglomerate that to date has assets at a book value of RM689.5 million.
KPD is known as a “SELF -HELP COOPERATIVE COMPANY, THRIFTY FOR THOSE IN POLICE JOBS, IN
NEGERI MELAYU BERSEKUTU WITH LIMITED LIABILITY “.
KPD is spearheaded by 42 policemen, among them are: –

On 12 July 1976, a new designation, “KOPERASI POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA BERHAD (KPD)” was introduced.
KPD also expanded its wings by being directly involved in in the following industries:

- Aviation Industry
- Education
- Transportation
KPD is one of four financial institutions recognized by Parliament as a Bumiputra Fund Agency. The other three institutions involve Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH).
