    History

    Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (KOOP DBP) was registered on April 14, 1972, under the Cooperative Societies Ordinance 1948 under the name Sharikat Kerjasama Serbaguna Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Berhad with registration number 4715. The company operates in the DBP canteen building and conducts business based on borrowing and thrift.

    Key Dates of KOOP DBP

    • September 15, 1983 – KOOP DBP rented a shop house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, as an operations center.
    • October 1, 1983 – Appointed as DBP book distributor for SPBT and the open market.
    • November 10, 1983 – Purchased a 3-storey shop house in Taman Nirwana, Ampang, for RM232,500.00.
    • July 11, 1984 – Bought a shop unit on the first floor, Safuan Plaza, Kuala Lumpur, for RM400,200.00.
    • July 31, 1984 – Operated in the lobby of the old DBP building.
    • April 1, 1988 – The administration and finance office moved to its own building in Taman Nirwana while the bookstore operated at the front of the old building near the DBP Training Room.
    • November 27, 1996 – Changed its name to Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Berhad KOOP DBP through amendments to the By-Laws.
    • March 1, 2001 – Received the Consumer Quality Award from the Chief Registrar of Cooperatives Malaysia.
    • July 7, 2004 – The entire operation moved to the new DBP building.
    • June 24, 2005 – Received the Special Award for Consumer Activities from the Chief Registrar of Cooperatives Malaysia.
    • August 15, 2007 – KOOP DBP purchased a 2-storey shop house in Taman Tasik Utama, MITC, Melaka, for RM237,12.36.
    • March 7, 2010 – Awarded a 3-star rating by the Malaysian Cooperative Commission and listed 78th in the list of Malaysia’s 100 best Cooperatives.
    • June 28, 2009 – Changed its name to Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Malaysia Berhad KOOP DBP in line with the expansion of operations to Sabah and Sarawak.
    • November 27, 2008 – Purchased a 4-storey shop house in Paragon Point, Bandar Baru Bangi Center, for RM1.67 million.
    • August 1, 2011 – Managed the overall distribution of BTSP issued by DBP to distributors nationwide, which includes receipt from printers, production according to state requirements, and distribution by land, sea, and air involving 14.8 million copies of books with a value of almost RM98 million.
    • November 12, 2012 – Purchased a warehouse with a total area of 10,990 square feet for RM3.3 million.
    • February 1, 2013 – Opening of the Melaka branch mini bookstore at the Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Melaka.
    • April 15, 2013 – KOOP DBP organized a Children’s and Adolescent Novel Writing Contest to obtain suitable manuscripts for publication.
    • October 1, 2013 – KOOP DBP opened a bookstore at Paragon Point, Pusat Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
    • November 30, 2013 – Listed 73rd in the Group of 100 Best Malaysian Cooperatives 2013 and received the 2013 Special Cooperative Award from the Federal Territories JPAN.
    • KOOP DBP also received the Best Cooperator Award at the Federal Territory Level from the Federal Territories JPAN.
    • September 2, 2014 – Published and launched 10 titles of children’s and adolescent novels completed by Datuk Nik Ali bin Mat Yunus, Executive Chairman of SKM.
    • December 31, 2014 – KOOP DBP has 707 members consisting of DBP staff and sales.
    • At the administrative level, there are 33 staff members at KOOP DBP consisting of 13 executives and 20 non-executives.

    KOOP DBP, Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka, menjadi mercu tanda dalam promosi bahasa dan kesusasteraan. Dengan komitmen untuk memupuk kecemerlangan linguistik dan kesusasteraan, kami berusaha untuk memperkasakan penulis, pembaca, dan peminat bahasa sama-sama. Sertai kami dalam misi kami untuk memperkaya warisan budaya dan meraikan keindahan bahasa melalui kerjasama dan kolaborasi.

    Sejarah

    Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (KOOP DBP) didaftarkan pada 14 April 1972 di bawah Ordinan Syarikat Bekerjasama 1948 dengan nama Sharikat Kerjasama Serbaguna Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Berhad dengan nombor pendaftaran 4715. Syarikat ini beroperasi di bangunan kantin DBP dan berbisnes berdasarkan pinjaman dan jimat-cermat.

    Tarikh Penting KOOP DBP

    • 15 September 1983 – KOOP DBP menyewa sebuah rumah kedai di Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur sebagai pusat operasi.
    • 1 Oktober 1983 – Dilantik sebagai pengedar buku DBP untuk SPBT dan pasaran terbuka.
    • 10 November 1983 – Membeli sebuah rumah kedai 3 tingkat di Taman Nirwana, Ampang dengan harga RM232,500.00.
    • 11 Julai 1984 – Membeli sebuah unit kedai di tingkat satu, Plaza Safuan, Kuala Lumpur dengan harga RM400,200.00.
    • 31 Julai 1984 – Beroperasi di lobi bangunan lama DBP.
    • 1 April 1988 – Pejabat pentadbiran dan kewangan berpindah ke bangunan sendiri di Taman Nirwana sementara kedai buku beroperasi di hadapan bangunan lama berhampiran Bilik Latihan DBP.
    • 27 November 1996 – Menukar nama kepada Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Berhad KOOP DBP melalui pindaan kepada Peraturan-peraturan.
    • 1 Mac 2001 – Menerima Anugerah Kualiti Pengguna dari Ketua Pendaftar Koperasi Malaysia.
    • 7 Julai 2004 – Keseluruhan operasi berpindah ke bangunan DBP baru.
    • 24 Jun 2005 – Menerima Anugerah Khas untuk Aktiviti Pengguna dari Ketua Pendaftar Koperasi Malaysia.
    • 15 Ogos 2007 – KOOP DBP membeli sebuah rumah kedai 2 tingkat di Taman Tasik Utama, MITC, Melaka dengan harga RM237,12.36.
    • 7 Mac 2010 – Diberi penarafan 3 bintang oleh Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia dan disenaraikan di tempat ke-78 dalam senarai 100 Koperasi Terbaik Malaysia.
    • 28 Jun 2009 – Menukar nama kepada Koperasi Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Malaysia Berhad KOOP DBP selaras dengan peningkatan operasi ke Sabah dan Sarawak.
    • 27 November 2008 – Membeli sebuah rumah kedai 4 tingkat di Paragon Point, Pusat Bandar Baru Bangi dengan harga RM1.67 juta.
    • 1 Ogos 2011 – Menguruskan keseluruhan pengedaran BTSP yang dikeluarkan oleh DBP kepada pengedar di seluruh negara yang melibatkan penerimaan dari pencetak, pengeluaran mengikut keperluan negeri, dan pengedaran melalui darat, laut, dan udara yang melibatkan 14.8 juta salinan buku bernilai hampir RM98 juta.
    • 12 November 2012 – Membeli sebuah gudang dengan luas keseluruhan 10,990 kaki persegi dengan harga RM3.3 juta.
    • 1 Februari 2013 – Pembukaan cawangan kedai buku mini di Melaka di Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Melaka.
    • 15 April 2013 – KOOP DBP menganjurkan Pertandingan Penulisan Novel Kanak-kanak dan Remaja untuk mendapatkan manuskrip yang sesuai untuk diterbitkan.
    • 1 Oktober 2013 – KOOP DBP membuka sebuah kedai buku di Paragon Point, Pusat Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
    • 30 November 2013 – Disenaraikan di tempat ke-73 dalam Kumpulan 100 Koperasi Terbaik Malaysia 2013 & menerima Anugerah Koperasi Khas 2013 dari JPAN Wilayah Persekutuan.
    • Selain itu, KOOP DBP juga menerima Anugerah Koperasi Terbaik peringkat Wilayah Persekutuan dari JPAN Wilayah Persekutuan.
    • 2 September 2014 – Menerbitkan dan melancarkan 10 judul novel kanak-kanak dan remaja yang disiapkan oleh YBhg. Datuk Nik Ali bin Mat Yunus, Pengerusi Eksekutif SKM.
    • 31 Disember 2014 – KOOP DBP mempunyai 707 ahli terdiri daripada kakitangan DBP dan penjualan.
    • Pada peringkat pentadbiran, terdapat 33 kakitangan KOOP DBP yang terdiri daripada 13 eksekutif dan 20 bukan eksekutif.
